Siddharth Malhotra to begin shooting for Hasee Toh Phasee in April

Siddharth Malhotra has hit the headlines once more with the unveiling of his upcoming film, Hasee Toh Phasee. The 28-year-old made his B-town debut a few months ago with the Karan Johar film, Student of the Year. Starring in the lead alongside Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, Siddharth won hearts with his performance in the blockbuster. After gaining a load of recognition with his first big-screen appearance, Siddharth will be seen in his second film, a joint production by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films.

Siddharth will be seen starring in the lead yet again, this time alongside the Ishaqzaade star, Parineeti Chopra. The film will be directed by Vinil Mathew, a filmmaker who has worked on a popular ad film for a coffee brand that starred Karan Johar. “It’s by a new director, Vinil Matthew, an ad filmmaker. It’s an interesting script, a rom-com different from how SOTY (‘Student of the Year’) was, a very middle-class, cooler, younger. We will start shooting in April,” said Siddharth.

For this one-movie-old newcomer, the film is a challenge and he feels the same enthusiasm as he did for his first film, Student of the Year. “Parineeti (Chopra) is great, great energy. It is my second film but it actually feels like I am doing my first film. First film chooses you and you choose the second film. So we are becoming the actors that we are,” added Siddharth Malhotra.

A tentative release date for this film hasn’t been announced and the movie will be one-of-a-kind, given that it’s backed by two filmmakers who follow different schools of movie-making, Karan and Anurag.
