After Karan Johar’s SOTY, Varun Dhawan to now star in Ekta Kapoor’s next

In Karan Johar’s directorial venture, Student of the Year, Varun Dhawan managed to turn a number of heads with his performance alongside Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The film was the young actor’s first big-screen appearance and was directed by Karan Johar and produced jointly by Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red ChilliesEntertainment. Now, after the success of his Bollywood debut, Varun will be seen in yet another film, produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and directed by the actor’s veteran director father, David Dhawan. In 2013, I am doing a film with Balaji, which my father (David) is directing. I can’t talk much about it but preparations have begun,” said Varun Dhawan, confirming the film.

Besides the fact that Varun will be acting in the film and his father will be directing it, not much has been divulged. Also, given the fact that Varun managed to pull off the role of Rohan Nanda in Student of the Year exceptionally well, fans, critiques and industry members are indeed expecting a fantastic performance by him in the upcoming film.

Varun Dhawan has also recently made an appearance on photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s calendar. Speaking about the shoot, Varun said, “It was a great experience because Dabbooji is in this line for such a long time and so many actors have worked with him. It is a big thing for me because I have done just one film,” adding, , “He (Dabboo) only said, ‘You can take off your shirt, and everyone is doing it’. But I can’t do it again because my mom gets really angry.”
