Siddharth Malhotra has won a lot of attention and acclaim for his debut in Karan Johar’s fifth directorial venture, Student of the Year. The debutant is now rumored to have been roped in for yet another film, reportedly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films. Says a source “It’s a love story developed by Vinil and he will be directing it. Karan had several meetings with the team of Phantom Productions comprising Anurag, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl and both parties shook hands over the script. If Vinil wants Siddharth to do the film, Karan will ensure he gets his perfect casting. Meanwhile, Phantom is busy making all the preparations and taking the project ahead in top gear. If all goes well, Siddharth and Parineeti will romance each other in the film.”
None of these casting rumors have been confirmed by the makers of the film however. Speaking about the film previously, Karan Johar articulated, “I have a lot of admiration for the production house since it has directors like Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag at the helm. I have had such exciting meetings with them, with all the directors discussing storylines, titles and other details of Vinil’s film.” This is Karan’s first collaboration with Anurag Kashyap. While the two do follow different filmmaking methods, their joining of hands could indeed result in an impressive film!
“The film is a quintessential love story that will feature a young cast. We will announce the names in a few days,” said Karan. “The way he (Vinil Mathew) handles relationships in his ads is something you can’t ignore. And that is what he is doing in our film too.” Vinil Mathew has previously directed ad-films for a coffee brand and has been well-acclaimed for the same.
