It’s a period love story and it’s a script I have had for the past eight years. In fact, my father had researched the film. He had gone to Lahore for three months before he passed away. After his demise, I had such an emotional attachment with the script that I couldn’t bring myself to work on it,” said Karan speaking about the film. Apart from this, news of Karan roping in actor Ranbir Kapoor for the lead role have also been doing the rounds. As per reports, Saif Ali Kh

an will feature in a cameo. Ranbir is also reported to be working alongside Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hain Deewani, a Dharma Productions release.

Quoting Karan Johar, “First up is Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, followed by 2 States with Arjun Kapoor. It is our first co-production with Sajid Nadiadwala. Then, there’s Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s film by Punit Malhotra. There’s also a big-budget film to be directed by Karan Malhotra, who made Agne

epath. I will start work on my directorial venture at the end of next year, after which we have another film by Rohit Shetty. In the next two years, there will be a big move forward. We may move to a bigger studio spa

ce and have more collaborations as far as production is concerned. The road ahead looks exciting.”
